Family Connections / PTO

At Marcy, we believe students thrive when families and community members feel connected, supported, and included. Family Connections is our version of a parent-teacher organization (PTO). We bring together caregivers, staff, and neighbors to strengthen our community and help students succeed, both in and out of the classroom.

Whether you can give an hour, an afternoon, or a year of leadership, you are welcome here.

We also welcome contributions for supplies teachers need.

How Meetings Are Announced

  • Website Update: Each month, this page will feature the date, time, and location of the next meeting.

  • Talking Points: Broadcasted to all Marcy parents/caregivers in their language preference.

  • Marcy Minute Newsletter: Look for reminders in your weekly school email.

  • Parent Facebook Group: Meeting info is posted in the Marcy Parents group.

Everyone is welcome: parents, caregivers, teachers, and staff.

Meeting Notes

We want Family Connections to be transparent and easy to follow. Each month, we’ll post a brief recap of the previous meeting.

October 2025 Meeting Highlights:

  • Representation, Volunteers, and Fundraising: We reviewed Family Connections’ three main priorities: building a diverse, representative team; energizing our volunteer base; and fundraising with purpose and fun.
  • Web & Communication Updates: Family Connections, Site Council, and Pedal Power pages on the Marcy website now include bilingual versions for accessibility.
  • Teacher Support: We’ve already filled two DonorsChoose campaigns (headphones and flexible seating) and are helping promote more currently open. Miss Joy’s kindergarten book project closes November 15!
  • Staff Appreciation: Provided conference-week meals for Marcy staff to show our appreciation.
  • Upcoming Fundraiser - Election Day Bake Sale: Tuesday, November 4, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. near parent pickup along SE 4th St. Expect music, student-made posters, dog treats, coffee, and lots of fun. Sign up to bake or volunteer here: https://forms.gle/dg5SW7tK6FM5AKNC9

Volunteer Opportunities
